Conlangs

    The beautiful Art of Conlanging

Halloi (Helo), and Be welcome to this review.

    What is a Conlang, anyway?

This is a word meaning a constructed language. A language one or a few person/people do create, in opose to a natlang, which comes to be a natural language.

Most well known conlangs are Quenya and Sindarin (LotR), Na'vi (Avatar), tlngon Hol and Vulcan (Star Trek), argueably Parseltongue (Harry Poter), the Divine Language (Fifth Element), Tenctonese (Alien Nation), and I could include now Dothraki (Game of Thrones).

Minbari, on Bablyon 5 TV series, is one of my favorites.

Then, I come to Akkia, my main language.

Akkia is a conlang inside and outside my fiction works. It is a topic-comment language. Also, pro-drop, which means you can use the language with no pronouns, droping the pronoun, and so it relay on context to interpret what is really being said. It's grammar can also be analyzed as in an Operator-Argument view. The main idea is that it is a language with moderate politeness, less than japanese, more than english. It's not meant to be universal, or an IAL, short for an international auxiliary language. I dedicate this language to the study of fiction, as the language of Storytellers, in my works of fiction, and into my approach on teaching the language, all together.

Some people create languages just for the "feeling" of that.

Some create for a purpose, to be a somewhat universal language for communication, etc.

The question is, I try to give a purpose to my languages.

This makes me more interested, and make it easier to create. It makes it easier when I try to teach them, and also when I need to show it to other conlangers.

    Why learning a constructed language?

I guess it all starts with interest, as interest is what moves the universe (Delenn, Babylon 5), but ends with a new way to see the universe in itself.

"Good luck, Captain. I think you are about to go where everyone has gone before."
Ivanova, Voices of Authority - Babylon 5.

        It's ALL about Culture,...

By this I'm saying a language must be learnt with it's culture.

I see reason on learning a language for endless uses, and not learning the culture of the people who speak it would be next to an insult.

And also, it can be very fun, you meet people, talk about the same interests, etc.

Well, I've found some friends who wanted to learn Akkia. I explained it's a tough language, and still they want to learn it. When I've published my Novels - I hope that happens soon, and I'll put the link here at the Blog - that will be easier, but for now I'm working on it and I'll have news on it as soon as possible. But well, my friends opened my eyes.

There must be fun into learning a language.

I noticed how the japanese teach their language, with all those symbols. They make you learn how to use the words, and they tell stories, in anime and manga format.

Why shouldn't we conlangers do the same?

    We should! For sure. (-;

I see everything as a Story. Then, I decided to give a reason of existence to the Akkia language. Everything is a Story to me, and I don't consider it to be true, nor more not less than Real, so for me Fiction exists.

One can invent Technology out of Fiction.

    That's enough, for me.

And so it is The Study of Fiction that drives my work at this conlang.

Language is life, in a quantum level.

When you break the language barrier that exists between people, you enter that person's universe, and when it happens that person will know that you understand their life in a meaningful way. You know their culture. You know the meanings that person inside the culture gives to things, you can understand them, and so you're one of us.

It happens because everyone is a universe.

So, to me, the universe is so endless because of people inside of it, that I wanted to express culture in special ways, and so I decided to use Voice/Language as an element.

I have more languages in the process: Nekron, Oka (most important here at the Blog than Akkia), Draka, Snakelang, Trade, and many others.

The languages must be created at the level of everyday use, but that must only happen by fan's interest in the language in question. Otherwise, no one would speak it. The must be quotes, citations, and even paragraphs in one or other languages, here. If you like one language, you should go our Facebook page Action Tale, and we'll be very happy to give you more. But well, besides that the languages are being created only to the level of instructions, basic conversation. Be a fan! Go our page, and tell us which lang you most like, and that must make us work on that language with much more effort, and joy.

This is a brief introduction on the topic.

It`s also possible you can learn a language to talk only with your friends, and that is a reason to learn too, so we believe you`ll find your way.

I'll have more posts about conlanging, in the future. For now, I should say you can learn a conlang. You should learn a conlang, if you want to. Be it from a movie, anime or your favorite Story. Only now I understand how much the study of languages helped me into thinking, into writing. It's more than logic alone. It's about how to make myself understood, in the language I come to learn.

Start taking part on the fun, and it all make sense.

Should we meet some day to talk in a strange language,...
        ,... hopefully,... so, Good luck.
